You had no right to mock me.
You had no right bully me,
damage my self-esteem,
stamp me with: “Fat, Ugly and Stupid.”
You had no right to call me “worthless,”
often enough for me to believe you were right.
You had no right to hollow my heart,
the way dripping water hollows a rock.
You had no right to destroy my youth
years, and quality of my adult life,
all of my self-respect, until the day I’d finally had enough,
used that power and stood up for myself.
You had no RIGHT, but you did it anyway!
Good enough to become a mother.
Smart enough to pursue the education I knew was right for me.
